David and Victoria Beckham Arrive at Westminster Abbey for the Royal Wedding
Before stepping out, pregnant Posh tweeted: “London looks beautiful!!! We are so proud to be British!”
Earlier this week David also expressed his excitement about the wedding, posting a video on his Facebook page saying: “I think a royal wedding, it’s amazing. It really is amazing. Our country needs it. Our country wants it. The British public love the Royal Family.”
Becks continued: “I was brought up around the Royal Family and around loving the Royal Family with my granddad, with my nan. I took my nan and granddad to Buckingham Palace when I got my OBE. They were so proud. It means so much to them. My granddad served his country and they were so proud of that.”
Like other guests, the Beckhams will be contributing to the couple’s wedding charity rather than offering a gift.
Prince William marries in Irish Guards Uniform
Prince William has married Kate Middleton today wearing the famous red tunic of an Irish Guards Officer.
It had previously been predicted that he would marry his bride to be Kate Middleton in his RAF uniform, as he currently holds the position of Flight Lieutenant in his role as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
The Prince holds the honorary rank of Colonel of the Irish Guards and will honour the regiment by marrying in their uniform. He will also be wearing his Garter sash and star, Royal Air Force "wings", and Golden Jubilee medal.
The Irish Guards have recently returned from a 6 month tour in Afghanistan and will take part in the wedding today as the Queens Guard in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.
The last major royal wedding to feature a groom marrying in "red" was Captain Mark Phillips, at the time an officer with the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards who married the Princess Royal in 1973.
Prince William’s best man, his brother Prince Harry is a newly promoted Captain in the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals and wore the uniform of his new rank.
William travelled l to Westminster Abbey with his brother and best man wearing an Irish Guards mounted officer's uniform in guard of honour order with a forage cap.
The prince wore a gold and crimson sash, and gold sword slings - both worn in the presence of a member of the royal family - but he did not carry a sword.
The tunic, in Guards' Red, features the regiment's distinctive arrangement of buttons in groups of four.
They feature the Harp of Ireland surmounted by the Crown Imperial and the arrangement of buttons on the uniform denotes the Irish Guards' position in the Order of Battle as the fourth regiment out of the five Foot Guards regiments - Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish, Welsh.
The insignia of the Irish Guards on the forage cap is the eight-pointed Star of the Most Illustrious Order of St Patrick, and features the Regiment's motto Quis Separabit? - Who shall separate us?
The uniform was fitted by Kashket and Partners - military and civilian tailors who hold a royal warrant from the Queen.
British Forces News spoke exclusively to Lt Col Brian O'Gorman (Retd), who is the Regimental Adjutant of the Irish Guards. He spoke of the regiments pride that the Prince had chosen to wear their uniform.
